    Description

    The House of Cogs is extremely pleased to present this, the rarest and arguably most beautiful crankset ever produced by Shimano: The Dura-Ace FC-7800-C carbon fiber crank!
    This crank was removed from a pre-owned bicycle and retains its original and extraordinarily rare chainrings. For the uninitiated: the FC-7800-C was Shimano's first, only, and perhaps last attempt at producing a carbon fiber crankset. Much like a person climbs a mountain "because it is there," Shimano engineers wanted to show that simply because they preferred hollow-forged aluminum for their cranks they were still fully capable of producing a carbon fiber crank. The initial series run sold out before it was even released, and once the bean counters saw what was spent on R&D and what sort of return on investment they could expect they killed the project in the nascent stages of its production.
    The particulars: 172.5mm crank arm length, 130mm BCD spider, with the aforementioned 53/39 "standard" chainrings. Compatible with all standard Shimano Hollowtech II bottom brackets thanks to its 24mm outer diameter steel spindle. Fixing bolt is included, however the threaded dust cap ***IS NOT*** but I think the crank still looks phenomenal even without it. Also, the "XTR" type installation and removal tool are not so please be prepared to supply your own.
    As I've stated, this is quite simply the MOST BEAUTIFUL crank that Shimano ever made, and perhaps the most beautiful crank produced by any bicycle component manufacturer, ever. It is certainly and easily the most beautiful carbon fiber crank with a gloss metallic finish over 3k weave arms. Iconic "Dura-Ace" logos grace each arm and the rings themselves. Truly, totally awesome.
    Overall condition is a conservative 7.75 out of 10 with typical signs of light use such as faintly burnished arms and minimally dinged ends but is otherwise in lovely condition for a used example. PLEASE click through the ENTIRE gallery for a close-up look at the actual crank you will receive.
