The central vignette depicts an early Steam Train as it passed under an Overpass with Buildings in the background.
To the left is a close up of an Early Steam Locomotive with smoke billowing.
To the right an undated Liberty Seated Coin (in use at the time).
Two “10” counters inside a shaded circle are on either side of the main Train vignette.
The reverse of this note is unprinted.
This Obsolete Banknote, has 4 sharp corners!
The printing is clear and crisp.
I can see a light center bend with another partial bend 1/8” of an inch away,
but not
complete
!
I also see some partial vertical bends, but they do not go all the way from top to bottom of the note, and the embossing is undisturbed!
The very best part of this note is it’s originality!
It shows very strong push through embossing, from the front to the back of the note.
There is a 3/32” x 3/32” piece gone from the right side margin near the Liberty Seated vignette, a 1/16” of an inch diameter small hole to the other side of the Liberty Seated vignette.
Lastly 5 - 1/32” holes at the lower right of the note near the Commissioners signatures.
Other than that, this is a lovely example of a note printed 160+ years ago on very thin paper, and most certainly in very limited quantities.
I grade this note as a Choice About Uncirculated. Please look the scans over carefully and judge the quality of the note for yourself before bidding!
