    Description

Vintage 1950s HERCULES Horse Hide Leather Bomber Jacket Sears S.
My grandfather purchased this leather jacket after WW2. It’s been in the family ever since but it doesn’t fit anybody anymore so we are letting it go.
It has wear from the years but it’s still in quite good condition. The only place where there are some holes is in the lining by the neck as you can see from the pictures. Otherwise, the materials at the wrist and waist and the zipper are good condition. Also, the pockets have no holes and are in good condition. Please carefully inspect all pictures to make sure that there are no surprises when you receive the item.
I believe it is horse leather because it is really tough - unlike leather, which would be much softer.  I searched how to tell the difference between the two and this is what I got:
    "
    Horse hide
    , though,
    is
often more rigid than cowhide, making
    for
    a longer break-in.
    Horse leather
also has a coarser grain than cowhide and many feel it has a brighter, more shiny appearance.
    Horse hide is
also less porous than cowhide, so dyed
    horse leather
tends to appear less uniform in color than cowhide."
None of the labels say whether it is one or the other, but from the description above, I would argue that my jacket is horse because it is more rigid than cow leather and is still a bit shiny in places.
I can’t tell what the size is but I believe it is a men’s medium or small. Here are the dimensions:
    Chest: 44”
    Shoulder to shoulder: 20”
Sleeve from the neck to the wrist: 32”
Length from the neck to the waist: 25”
It still feels very strong and all the stitching is in good condition. The only thing you may want to do with it is give it a good application of leather cream.
    Shipped and insured.
