    Description

    Please read carefully before purchase
Up for sale is Circa 1850s-60s
    The Sandusky City Bank
    State of Ohio
The bank was organized in 1846 and continued in business until, according to some contemporary sources, it "failed" in November 1854. If that in fact was true, it was quickly revived during the course of 1856-57 when the cashier sent a letter to the
    New York Tribune
informing the readers of that paper that all was well. Apparently it was, as notes continued to be issued until 1865. The bank never became a national bank. This note is from an extremely late printing with the full "American Bank Note Company, Phila" imprint used.
