Description
8 1/2 x 11" white pages titled "The Arrest and Capture of Lee Harvey Oswald By Officer M. N. 'Nick' McDonald, 11-22-63"This document is a step-by-step description of how Officer McDonald first encountered Oswald and continued to Oswald's ultimate capture by McDonald. It's entirely written in the hand of Officer McDonald. No part of it is photocopied.
In part, the document reads;
"As I approached the front of the Texas Theatre, police cars were already there and the officers had already entered through the front entrance.
I wheeled around to the alley at the rear of the theatre. Officers were standing in the alley with shotguns raised, guarding the exit door. Getting out of the police car I decided to try opening the exit door...Suddenly, the door opened outward and two men in civilian suits quietly motioned for me to come in...
Entering, I went to the exit curtains to the left of the movie screen...Johnny, at my shoulder, pointed out the suspect. He was at the rear on the main floor, three rows from the partition of the lobby...I made my decision to try an act of diversion...I started walking unhurriedly up the aisle toward him. Slowly, deliberately I was closing the distance between us. Maybe, just maybe, I could prevent a stand-off and a shoot-out...the diversion was working. I was there now!...
I turned quickly into his row...As he calmly looked up at me, I spoke with a strong voice of authority, "Get on yout feet"! He realized he had waited too long to make a free and open move of aggression...
Without a command, he started bringing up both hands and in a voice of resignation, he spoke softly, "Well, it's all over now"!
Suddenly, his left hand made a tight fist and it exploded between my eyes...
With my left hand, I felt him pulling a pistol from underneath his shirt...I grabbed for it with my left hand...with all the strength I could muster...Bracing myself, I stood rigid, waiting for the bullet to penetrate my chest...I pivoted his pistol to the side away from my body, and realized I was not shot...
Falling on him, I tried to smother his movements. I was in a desperate struggle to gain possession of his pistol...My life depend on gaining complete conrol of his weapon...
I pulled the pistol away and handed it to a detective standing in the aisle. I called out to my fellow officers, "I've got him"!!!!!
McDonald has signed the last page of the document as Officer M.'Nick' McDonald - Captor of Oswald - 11-22-63
All of the writing is in the hand of Officer McDonald. It is not photocopied.
This is a manificent piece of American history.
I posted all five pages of this document so you coud read the entire thing.
The
signature is authentic in the hand of McDonald. It is not printed or in any way a facsimilie. It is genuine.
Officer McDonald handwrote hundreds of words for each of these documents so you should expect a few cross-outs, overwrites, white outs, etc. in the document you get.
In 1994 I purchased a number of autographed items directly from Nick McDonald, this being one of them. Since Officer McDonald has passed away, when my inventory of McDonald/Oswald material is gone, I will not be able to get more.
